John Griffiths

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death last week of Hereford member John Griffiths. John and his wife Janet  joined the Ramblers only six years ago. He had been courageously fighting cancer, keeping himself fit and seemingly keeping on top of it for the last four years. Only two months ago he said he felt the best since it all began. His decline came on suddenly and quickly.

He was a kind intelligent gentleman with a good sense of humour. I know John will be sadly missed by all of us who had the pleasure to know and walk with him.  

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church Whitecross for John Griffiths on Friday 20th May at 1:30.

Bill Matthews

Our sad news is that Bill Matthews one of our longest serving members has sadly passed away.  Bill was a regular walker with the old Herefordshire Walking Group and also led many walks for us.  And a good mate to those who walked with him!

His funeral will be at Hereford Crematorium at 3.00pm on Monday 20th June.

Please note that the Permissive Footpath which takes you beneath the A40 at Ross has been withdrawn. You will now have to cross the A40! and follow the public right of way.
