Sid Palmer
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Sid Palmer a founder member of Hereford Group & long term Area Footpath Secretary passed away on Saturday 24th June, his cremation will be on Tuesday 4th July at Hereford Crematorium at 12 o'clock. Our deepest sympathy to Janet and family at this distressing time.
Arthur Rowe
We are sorry to pass on the sad news that Arthur Rowe has passed away on the 13th January 2017, peacefully at the nursing home where he was resident. Further details can be obtained from this weeks Hereford Times.
Arthur was a great friend of those who belonged to Herefordshire Ramblers in the 1990's and beyond. He had joined the group fairly soon after it was formed and was an active member leading walks and enjoying social events.
He was sadly missed by those who knew him when he had to give up walking several years ago. Our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.
Herefordshire Walking Festival 17 – 25 June 2017

Proposal for a Heart of Wales Line Trail
The proposed route was designed Alison Caffyn with the help of Les Lumsdon, a member of Herefordshire Ramblers, who usually organises bus walks in each programme. The report recommended a route from Craven Arms to Llanelli, 140 miles mainly on rights of ways. It will pass through a diverse range of landscapes from pastoral farming through to remote uplands, and mixed broadleaved woodlands. For more information please click Here.
September 2017 on the Ceredigion Coast Path
After having been nearly blown off their feet while on a recce on the Ceredigion Coast Path, John Winterfeld and Phil Bauer led thirty two Herefordshire Ramblers in fairer weather on our annual away weekend, this time based at the Plas Dolau Hostel. Our Friday walk, recced by Heather and Annie, was in the Rheidol Valley on the Hafod Estate, brimming with waterfalls in spate. For the next two days, with the help of bus and train, we walked the coast path to the south and north of Aberystwyth, enjoying the play of light over the sea and the rugged cliff scenery, then retiring to the customary tea-shop. On the Saturday evening, having blown away the cobwebs, we all enjoyed Annie’s quiz.
These away weekends are a regular fixture in our programme, and planning is now well-advanced for September 2018 in Pembrokeshire.

Good News!!
The Toucan crossing of the A40 dual carriage way has now been commissioned and is in full use.
Walk past Wilton Castle and up to the A40 then turn left towards the roundabout with the A49 to safely cross the dual carriage way and then turn right to re-join the footpath travelling northwards.
Thanks to the Ross Ramblers for pursuing this with Highway England.
